Welcoming Winter

When December arrived slowly,

Slumber crept into the ancient trees.

The same trees that sheltered

Our regrets and fallen tears.

And through the empty boughs,

The Moon shone with a promise

Of hope, love and renewed joy.

And we kept you warm and safe…

The Moon and I.

She gave you what wasn’t hers

And I…

Offered you everything that was mine.

And now,

When love and desire

Are about to die

In the merciless claws of fate,

I wait

For a faint glimmer of hope.

I wait for another winter.
