Distractions

Pain, monotony and impatience,

urging me to abandon

the work at hand

asking me to think,

to be fruitful…

I look out of the window,

seeking an escape.

Only to find

the outside world

in its own raucous monotony.

Vehicles on the wrong side,

Abuses and cuss words,

Aimless pedestrians,

Smoke rising

from a distant building

finding camouflage

in the unfaithful clouds.

And I suddenly remember,

Why I seek refuge,

In boredom and monotony.

I miss you.

Terribly.

This poem is undoubtedly one of the finest poems I read in the recent times. Connecting the Pandemonium of the outside world to the raucous reflections of one’s mind in such simple yet inflicting way… great piece of writing. Simply superb.
