The Lonely Sunrise

Tired and lonely,
I sat down
on a cold rock.
Watching the darkness
running away in a hurry.
The stars too
began to flee,
as the noise of crickets
began to be replaced
by chirping of birds.

And then
there were people…
jogging, cycling, wandering,
trying to burn away
unattractiveness and insecurities.
There were arguing lovers
and others trying hard
not to envy them.
There were nerds,
talking aloud to themselves
and the milkman,
cycling breathlessly
to reach on time.

Everybody was busy.
Nobody noticed me,
sitting on the ground
and silently laughing
at their quirks.
Nobody noticed
the lonely Sun
peeping from the horizon.
Only I had the time
to sympathize with the Sun.
