Nothingness

Capture your Nothingness
and keep it safe.
Freeze it and let it clink
in expensive wine glasses.
Hide it in your pillow
between the foam
and your embroidered cover.
Preserve it
in cracked pickle jars
and empty deodorant cans.
Hold it tight
between your aching fingers
and sweaty palms.

Take it out and use it
to glue memories together,
happy, sad, embarrassing…
To remind you
in moments of distress
what you had
and what you’ve earned.
